New DoD Directive on CI Awareness Training
DoDD5240.06 (CI Awareness and Reporting) was released May 17, 2011. Enclosure three of the Directive contains a new requirement for all DoD personnel to receive the following Threat education annually:
- The threat from Foreign Intelligence Entities (FIE)
- Collection methods used by FIEs to obtain our critical information
- FIE use of the Internet and other communications including social networking services
- The CI insider threat
- Reporting responsibilities regarding foreign travel and foreign contacts
- Reporting requirements relative to suspicious behaviors
We (Kenneth Sudol & Associates) have been offering our two-day "Counterintelligence for Security Professionals" (CISP) course since the beginning of this year. It is a perfect educational solution to the above requirements as everything that the Directive dictates to be addressed is in there.
Our instructor, Mr. Ray Semko, AKA "The DICEMAN", was a CI agent for 21 years in the Army and has been engaged in counterintelligence awareness education for the last 20 years. It was one of Ray's D*I*C*E briefings while assigned at DIA that prompted an intelligence analyst to report suspicious behavior by Ana Belen Montes. This report caused the initiation of the investigation that resulted in her conviction for espionage. He is infinitely qualified to educate your troops on counterintelligence!
Our next public offering of the Counterintelligence course is February 15-16, 2012 in Fredericksburg, VA, and then again, April 18-19, 2012 in the Washington, DC area or we can bring Mr. Semko on-site to present the course to your personnel. Please contact our office for more information.
